Dear Mr Major,

a

I enclose a exemplifies Britain and the Conservative Party in particular.

recent newspaper cutting which to

the wrong with

Government of Great

I have always been a staunch supporter of conservative ideals and have supported the conservative party in their quest to govern the country, and the colonies, in a fair and equitable manner, rewarding hard work with reasonable reward. However I now find that your approach to and handling of the issue of war widows in Hong Kong is not only disgraceful but makes me ashamed to admit that I am British. This is, in my opinion, only one of the outward manifestations of the general unacceptability of the current government and its individual members, and it has led me to reconsider my future support for the conservative party.

If the present Government does not change its stance and award passports to war widows without condition, I regret that I and many of my colleagues will vote with other parties in the next election.

I sincerely hope that you will reconsider the case of war widows in Hong Kong and provide them with the rights they have earned through their dedication to Britain and the freedom of the western world.

Yours sincerely,

Caurence Parker.
