Phased Programme for Registration as BN(0)s
Essential that all British Dependent Territory Citizens (BDTCS) who want them should have the opportunity to acquire BN (0) passports before the power to issue them ceases on 1 July 1997. Phased programme is the tool which will ensure that the Hong Kong Government is able to process all applications and issue passports in time.
Governor has discretion to accept late applications.
British Citizenship for wives and widows of ex-servicemen - These ladies may settle in the UK at any time. They cannot acquire British citizenship while they remain in Hong Kong.
