I am afraid that the answer provided by the Indian authorities does not really help us very much. I can well understand their reluctance to be more forthcoming considering as they do that the ethnic minority in Hong Kong are our responsability. Nevertheless I should be grateful if you could go back to the MFA for more clarification. For instance what are India's naturalisation laws and how do the Indian authorities define "Indian origin" ? Could you obtain for us a copy of the relevant passages of their law ?
