(f) The position of Hong Kong is unique and unprecedented in
Hong Kong is not to be given independence like other Bish colonies. The grant of full British nationality to the ethnic minorities in Hong Kong would not create an undesirable precedent for other British colonies or territories.
(g) Like many Hong Kong people, the ethnic minorities regard Hong Kong as their home. It is their intention to stay in Hong Kong as far as possible. They do not anticipate migrating to Britain if they are granted full British citizenship. The British. Government should have no concern about major influx of such immigrants.
Recommendation
The Legislative Council concludes that the British Government has an obligation to provide proper citizenship (ie British citizenship) to this group of non-Chinese ethnic minorities in Hong Kong who are British nationals. It recommends that they should be granted full British nationality without further delay.
