BRITISH NATIONALITY ACT 1981
1. The Secretary of State has decided in the light of section 42(1) of the British Nationality Act 1981 that the Governors of the British Dependent Territories listed in Schedule 6 of the Act and, in the case of the Falkland Islands and Dependen- cies, Her Majesty's Civil Commissioner, shall exercise the functions of the Secretary of State including, where applicable, his discretion, in cases concerning British Dependent Terri- tories citizens or British Dependent Territories citizenship, under the following sections of the Act:
Section 15 subsection (3), (4) and (7)
(registration of certain persons born in a dependent territory after commencement)
Section 17 subsections (1), (2), (4) and (5) (registration of minors)
Section 18 subsections (1) and (2)
(naturalisation)
Section 19 subsections (1) and (3)
(registration by virtue of residence in a dependent territory)
Section 20 subsections (1), (2) and (3) (registration by virtue of marriage)
Section 21
(registration by virtue of father's citizenship)
Section 22 subsections (1) and (2)
(registration based upon a right to resume citizenship of the United Kingdom and Colonies
Section 12 subsections (1), (3) and (4) as applied by Section 24 to British Dependent Territories citizens or British Dependent Territories citizenship (renuncia- tion of citizenship)
Section 13 subsections (1) and (3) as applied by Section 24 to British Dependent Territories citizens or British Dependent Territories citizenship
(resumption of citizenship)
