PUBLICITY CAMPAIGN FOR THE PHASED PROGRAMME FOR BRITISH NATIONAL (OVERSEAS) REGISTRATION
I have just seen your circular letter of 30 July about the publicity campaign for the phased programme for the registration of BN (O)s overseas. I was struck by the distribution list and could not fathom the rationale behind
it. It does not include countries which have large numbers of Hong Kong passport holders such as Belgium; nor does it in the main, even when a country is included, address itself to the passport issuing post in that country for example, the passport issuing post in Australia is Canberra, in France Paris, in Germany Dusseldorf, in the Netherlands Amsterdam, in New Zealand Wellington, in Spain Madrid, in United States Washington and so on.
We should be grateful to know the thinking behind this distribution list. It may be that it is confined to Hong Kong information officers overseas. However, if this is the case, we hope that similar letters have gone to most of our overseas Posts issuing passports to Hong Kong passport holders.
