When you called on me on 30 June, I undertook to let you have a copy of the letter which I sent out touching on issues of concern to the LegCo House Committee which visited London on 9 June. As you will see, this contains a section on the position of the ethnic minority in Hong Kong. I am sorry that you did not receive a copy of this earlier.
I thought you might also like to see a copy of Lynda Chalker's letter of 18 December to Hartley Shawcross, dealing in some detail with the question of consistency between the Governor's constitutional proposals and the Basic Law. I enclose copies of both letters.
