You may apply for a British National (Overseas) passport valid for ten years now; or
You may apply for a British Dependent Territories citizen passport valid until 30 June 1997 and apply to exchange it for a British National (Overseas) passport before 1 July 1997.

二、你可以申請一本有效期至一九九七年六月三十日的英國屬上公民護照,而在一九九七年七月一日以前申請換領一本英國國民(海外)護照。
Retention of British Nationality

Under Article 3 of the Hong Kong (British Nationality) Order 1986, a person who is a British Dependent Territories citizen by virtue of a connection with Hong Kong only shall cease to be such a citizen on I July 1997.
You may however retain British nationality by obtaining a British National (Overseas) passport before that date.
根據一九八六年香港(英國國籍)令第三條款的規定,凡單憑同香港的關係而成為英國屬上公民的人士,在一九九七年七月一日便不再是該類公民。 但你亦可在該日期前領取英國國民(海外)護照,因而保留英國國籍。
