BN (0) Passport Application Forms
We have been reviewing all passport application
forms and related leaflets to prepare for the
implementation of the phased BN (0) registration programme and have discovered areas where changes need to be made.
The present passport application forms (attached for reference) and leaflets for both BDTC and BN (0) passports all contain the following notes -

You may apply for a British National (Overseas) passport valid for ten years now;
OR
Your may apply for a British Dependent Territories Citizen passport valid until 30 June 1997 and apply to exchange it for a British National (Overseas) passport before 1 July 1997.
Retention of British Nationality
Under Article 3 of the Hong Kong (British Nationaility) Order 1986, a person who is a British Dependent Territories citizen by virtue of a connection with Hong Kong only shall cease to be such a citizen on 1 July 1997. You may however retain British
onality in a British National (Overseas) passport before that date.
