Dear
Mr. Woodlands,
Nepalese Workers in Hong Kong
I refer to your faxed message of 26 July.
The total number of applications received over
the last two years
Categories/No. of application
Year
(a) 1991
(i) Employment visa
43
(ii) Change of status
103
(iii) Importation of
Labour Scheme
16
Total
162
(b) 1992
(i) Employment visa
(ii) Change of status
99
146
(iii) Importation of
Labour Scheme
72
Total
317
As you can see, the number of applications approved (71 and 101) represents 43% and 32% of the total applications received during the last two years. Given the unique nature of Napalese workers, it is unrealistic Lo compare their percentage terms with other third world countries.
Yours sincerely,
(C.Y. Hui)
