Dear Katie
Dr Conde
I enclose the final bill for Dr Conde and his wife. It is a little confusing but it breaks down into three elements.
a)
HK$14,014. 30 paid by this office and charged to your subhead at an exchange rate of 12. 2312 which equals £1, 145. 78.
b) HK$954. 10. 10 (for cigarettes) paid for by Dr Conde.
c) HK$752. 40 not paid by Dr Conde but accepted by the Furama as not falling to us.
We have had to pay for meals for Dr and Mrs Conde taken in the hotel which total HK$3, 471. 20, half of which would amount to £141. I leave it to your to decide whether it is worth trying to recover this sum for the good Doctor?
I did not manage to see Dr Conde so have no idea whether he found his one day programme worthwhile. I have already commented on the attitude of the Hong Kong Government in my fax of 30 April to John Woodrow HKD. He certainly seems to have had a good holiday on HMG and I would not recommend that such an arrangement be agreed to again.
