Czech Foreign Minister's Visit to Hong Kong

Thank you for speaking to the Czech Embassy on the numbers involved in the Minister's visit.

I -look- forward- to- receiving a list-vf- names of the Minister's party as well as information on the areas they are interested in.

Ι am not sure who Mr Vymetal spoke to in Hong Kong Department on press conferences, but I have checked again with the Government Information Services and can confirm that it is not practice το arrange them for visiting Ministers, except those from the United Kingdom.

The normal thing is for visitors, Ministers or others, to arrange their own press conferences, for example, in their hotel rooms. We do sometimes help by letting the media know that there is such an event. We could, as an exception, on this occasion arrange a space at the airport SQ that the Minister could give a press conference on his departure and notify the medie of it.

But the arrangements on the ground, for arshalling the press (assuming that many turn up which Ι somehow doubt) would be the responsibility of the Minister's party.

example,

I hope that this helps you when you go

back to Mr Vymetal.

Best wishes,
