Dear Anne,

CZECH FOREIGN MINISTER'S VISIT TO HONG KONG

1.

2.

Thank you for your letter of 16 June.

On booking accommodation, I can confirm that Mr Miroslav Samonil should be included. So should the journalist listed by Brussels. The members of the business delegation numbered 18, 19 and 20 on the list I sent you should also be included. Additionally, Mr Vymetal has requested that Hong Kong make reservations for the flight crew (they number 18, list of names sent with my previous fax). Can you manage this? One more point on accommodation; would it be possibly to book a suite or "apartment" for the Foreign Minister?

I

Thank you for the guidance on arrival at the airport. have passed this on. The Czech side would like one of the Czech Minister's bodyguards to be included in the Daimler. They also request that official transport should include one bodyguard who would accompany the Minister throughout (but who would not expect to sit in on meetings - he would hang around in the vicinity). Could a second bodyguard be in attendance on Mrs Zieleniecova on her University trip? I told them that the transport provided by the Hong Kong Government for the official party would be for calls listed on the programme only (rather than going to and from the airport). Mr Vymetal informs me that the bodyguards may now leave their arms in Singapore - they understand that they must surrender them on arrival in Hong Kong if they bring them. I was asked whether Hong Kong would provide personal protection for the Minister. I said that this would not be necessary. (I hope this was right). Reading between the lines Mr Vymetal finds the bodyguards something of an embarrassment!

4. Mr Vymetal confirms that the party can manage in English.
