Purpose
The Reception is to mark the cooperation between Britain and the Hong Kong government in a joint funded programme (£125k/HK$2m) to improve the level of English teaching and teacher training in Hong Kong, and to mark the achievement of two groups of people:
62 trainees from the four Colleges of Education in Hong Kong who have completed a 6 week language immersion course in the UK (at South Devon College, College of St Mark & St John Plymouth, West Sussex Institute of Higher Education, Christchurch College Canterbury, and Lancaster University)
19 lecturers from the Colleges of Education who have completed either a 4 week "Development Programme" at Nottingham University or a 3 week "Information Technology in Education" programme at Manchester University
An opportunity will be provided for the press to interview two representatives from each of the UK groups, plus representatives from the 1992 and/or 1991 groups.
