1.
With apologies for a short deadline I would be grateful for assistance from BTC on the following points relevant to Mr Goodlad's briefing:
(i) Dinner with British Chamber of Commerce
Please could you let me know whether there will be any guests other than those listed as members of the BCC General Committee? If so, is there any overlap with the lunch you gave for Mr Goodlad in June? (If there is, we will brief the Minister on follow up to environmental topics discussed in June). Grateful if you could fax or telephone the answer by 120OZ tomorrow 6 October.
(ii) British Consulate General, ground breaking ceremony OED have not been able to brief us in detail as staff working on the Consulate General project are all out of the office. Grateful therefore if you could provide the Minister on arrival with a brief for this part of his programme. This might include a run down on what will happen, who will be there and background (which Swires can presumably provide) on the scope of the contract for foundation work, its value, background on Gammon. Subject to your views, it might be helpful to include brief background on the unsuccessful bids (is Mr Goodlad likely to be lobbied by unsuccesful bidders hoping for better luck with the main contract?) plus any other supporting material you feel relevant.
2.
We presume that the Minister will be called on to say a few words at the ceremony but that others will be on hand to answer any questions of detail about the project. Could you confirm
