Dear James
Thank you for your letter of 10 August with information about the forthcoming visits of Mr Goodlad and Mr Hunt.
Mr Goodlad visited the BC office in Wanchai in September 1992 and therefore it may be premature to suggest another familiarisation visit at this point.
However, I do think there are a couple of things we are doing in the area of education that Mr Goodlad might possibly find interesting:
To participate in the UKIPPT reception for returning English language students and their lecturers with Director of Education (can be fixed to meet his itinerary from 10 to 12 October). At same time, to discuss with a few key figures from Education Dept / Education & Manpower Branch (?) other aspects of the BC's involvement in educational developments in Hong Kong, e.g. the new Institute of Education and bridging programmes for S6/S7 students etc.....
To have drinks/meeting with Mr David Li, Chairman of East Asia Bank to help maintain the momentum on the Management Centre proposal.
Finally, Tony O'Brien has noted the SEM lunch for Mr Hunt on
and the subsequent briefing at BTC (3 pm - 4 pm). We are considering whether any particular points we might brief Mr Hunt on in advance of his visit and will send you a separate note on this shortly.
Best wishes,
Yours,
Tom
