ground. In the EC we have worked together to stress the importance of the Community adhering to the principle of
subsidiarity, in other international fora, such as the ILO and
Council of Europe we have supported one another in calling for
reforms of working methods and budgetary restraints.
Turning to the future, Dr Kohl and I agreed that it was
time to think about the way we should mark 1995, the fiftieth
anniversary of peace in Western Europe.
