BRITISH-GERMAN SUMMIT 25 NOVEMBER 1993: OPENING PRESS CONFERENCE STATEMENT BY THE PRIME MINISTER
1.
I attach an outline draft for the Prime Minister's opening statement at the Press Conference, following the British- German Summit on 25 November. I should be grateful for your contributions and amendments to the draft as appropriate by noon 18 November. Language should be cleared as necessary with other Government Departments. We propose to submit the draft to No 10 by 22 November. I attach for reference the opening statements made by the Prime Minister and Chancellor Kohl at last year's bilateral summit.
2.
In addition, we will be compiling a common checklist of points to be covered by the Prime Minister and Chancellor Kohl in their opening statements as agreed between
Sir Nigel Broomfield and Dr Bitterlich of the Federal Chancellery (Bonn telno 886 refers). The list will be drawn from the full statement and given to the Germans in advance. of the summit.
