PENDING EXTRADITION CASE: SANIMAN
An important case for Hong Kong, it concerns the largest fraud case ever and is a matter of wide public interest. Kong have been trying to secure Dr Rais Bin Saniman's extradition since 1986.
Hong
- FCO Ministers fully support Hong Kong Government's efforts to seek extradition of Saniman from France to Hong Kong.
Rejection by the French side of the "Recours Gracieux" lodged in May was disappointing.
Hope that the French side can review the Ministry of Justice's decision not to extradite Dr Saniman.

- Understand that the UK's application in November to the Conseil d'Etat is the first such application on an extradition issue by a government. No question of any desire on our part to behave provocatively merely pursuing, on behalf of the Hong Kong Government, the only remaining form of
