Background
1. South Korea, like Hong Kong, is a member of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum. It is not one of Hong Kong's largest trading partners but comes seventh in volume of trade. In 1992 Hong Kong's exports to South Korea totalled around £1,111 million of which £105 million were due to direct exports and £1006 million to re-exports. However South Korea is a major supplier of raw materials to Hong Kong (£3,270 million in 1992) coming fifth after China, Japan, Taiwan and the USA.
