CHONG KWEE SUNG
Mr Goodlad raised with you the case of Chong Kwee sung, a Hong Kong businessman who has been detained without charge in Henan. We do not know whether this has been done with the approval of the NPC, as we understand is required by law. His family have not been permitted to visit him.
We are disappointed at the lack of response to this approach and the numerous other approaches made in Hong Kong and Peking about Chong. The Secretary of State may raise this case with Vice-Premier Qian Qichen.
