EX-GOVERNORS OF HONG KONG: PENSIONS
1.
The Hong Kong Government are currently carrying out a review of the Governor's tax position in the light of recent media interest in this subject.
2. I would be grateful if you could provide me with the answers to the following questions which the Hong Kong Government have asked in respect of Lord MacLehose of Beoch, the late Sir Edward Youde and Lord Wilson of Tillyorn:
(a) Were the previous Governors entitled to Diplomatic Service Pensions for their services as Governors of Hong Kong?
(b) Are these pensions paid by HMG?
(c) Are these pensions (and lump sum payments if any) tax free?
