1.
I have seen the minuting resting with Mr Wilde's of 1 April.
2. I agree with him that the grading of Governors' posts does not fall within the scope of the present study.
3. At the appropriate time, I would argue that the grading of the posts within the responsibility of SAAD should remain as they are. In particular, I think the Governor of the Falklands should continue to be a senior grade officer. The political sensitivity of the Falklands in British political debate and the role of the Governor in persuading the Islanders to accept the facts of life on matters such as oil and fisheries require the authority of a senior grade officer.
