1. Further to your tur the Coroner has now confirmed that he intends to hold the inquest into Captain Bashforth's death on 21 June. He would still welcome any further information which the Indonesians have in order for the inquest to draw a conclusion. Grateful if you could press the Indonesians for any outstanding material.

You will also wish to be aware that Radio Four are planning to produce a feature on the death of Captain Bashforth and have asked for an FCO statement. We propose to point to the representations made by post and the fact that the Secretary of State raised' this issue during his visit in April. In this context it would be helpful to have details of contacts which you have had with the Indonesians on this subject since that visit and the current state of play of the investigations. Grateful for a reply by close of play 3 June.
3. We are still seeking advice on the insurance question raised in your tur and will revert.
