1. Thank you for your letter of 3 December which I received today. I am sorry to hear that you will be unable to attend all the talks, but I am very pleased that David Bentley and Hugh Giles will be able to attend on the days that you are unable to be present. I look forward, however, to seeing you again on 13 December.
2.
I am grateful to you for offering to look at the MLAT Negotiating Brief and to assist with the material which the Home Office agreed at the two preparatory MLAT meetings to provide. I enclose a copy of the Negotiating Brief which I have prepared and would welcome any comments which you, or your Home Office colleagues may have, particularly on square bracketed points as well as comments from other copy addressees by mid-day on 15 December (as the MLAT talks take place on 16 and 17 December).
Yours ever,
Shelaph.
