need to be

post 1997, in Hong Kong. We believe that existing mechanisms to ensure free speech will need significantly strengthened.

We look forward to the early completion of the review of legislation relating to press freedom and freedom of information and earnestly hope that the review will incorporate our concerns. We will continue to press for strong mechanisms to ensure that the rights embodied in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights are protected.

While we look forward to the outcome of the review of laws, we will continue to argue most strongly for a freedom of information ordinance, and, most importantly, strong mechanisms to ensure that the rights embodied in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights are protected.

I would like to know whether the government will make public the results of their press laws review as soon as they are known but am not sure whether this is automatic or not in Hong Kong?

Thank you once again for writing and I do hope that we may remain in contact in order to know more about the British government's plans to further protect the fundamental right to free expression.
