Prison Rule 76(b)
restricts the disclosure
of information by CSD
staff to the press.
Prison Rule 239(1)(e)(ii)
makes it a disciplinary
offence for CSD staff to
divulge information to the
press and the public.
Review
It is considered that the press should
not be distinguished from the public.
The provision should be
repealed.
We consider this provision to be
unnecessarily wide.
This provision should be amended
to narrow the circumstances in
which disclosure will be a
disciplinary offence.
