Coordination between AsiaSat and Chinese Satellite Networks
We met the Chinese Administration (China) in Beijing on 25-26 June 1993 for coordinating the AsiaSat-E (105.5°E) and DFH-3-OB (103°E) networks. Both sides agreed to conclude the coordination of the networks by adopting some broad principles on technical measures. I enclose a copy of the summary record of the meeting. You may notice that the summary record is unsigned as I believe that your consent to putting a statement as shown in paragraph 7 in the summary record is required.
i
For the past year, we already had several meetings with China for coordinating the AsiaSat-E and DFH-3-OB networks. The main reason that we could complete coordination at this meeting was China took into consideration that it would take over the registration of Hong Kong frequencies currently registered on our behalf by the UK Administration. China therefore considered it necessary to put a statement to highlight this fact in the summary record. From our point of view, we have no objection to putting such a statement in the summary record as this issue has already been discussed and agreed in the Fifth Meeting of the Sino-British Joint Liaison Group held in October 1986. If it is also agreeable to you, I will sign the summary record and forward it to China.
I should be grateful if you would reply by facsimile.
