Evidence which has been brought to light by the Russian press,
notably 'Izvestiya', indicates that remains in fact were recovered.
To ensure that the facts on the disposition of remains are brought
out, we urge the Russian government:
-To release any information in its possession about the
discovery and disposition of the remains of the KAL 007 incident
victims;
-To make available the Soviet and Russian authorities' reports
on the search and rescue missions from September 1, 1983 to date;
-To permit and facilitate access to the participants in the
search and rescue operations. Interviews with these participants
would be conducted on the basis of accepted practices for legal
depositions;
-To permit and facilitate an underwater search of the crash
site, if information is not available through other means.
The Korean, Japanese and American governments will also make
available any information they possess on human remains from KAL 007.
