4.4.1
The ICAO team, which arrived in Japan on 7 February 1993 and departed on 10 February 1993, met with officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Transport and the Defense Agency.
4.4.2 the team:

Clarification on a number of matters as well as the following were provided to
a)
SAPAN DEL AMEND * bl
radar data, including a map showing the track of KAL-007 and certain other aircraft over Sakhalin Island for a limited period of time leading to the shoot-down;
See information on the search operations for KAL-007 conducted by the Japanese Self-Defense Forces;
c)
d)
transcripts of radio communications (air-to-ground) interceptors over Sakhalin as recorded by a Japanese source;
by Soviet
film footage of the KAL-007 wreckage shot by a Japanese television company in 1991; and
e)
the original Tokyo ATC tape (provided in Montreal on 5 March 1993).
4.4.3
Some additional information and materials were requested from Japan which may require some time to prepare. Further contacts and discussions are taking place in this regard.
4.5
Russian Federation
4.5.1
The ICAO team held meetings with officials from the Interstate Aviation Committee and the Ministry of Defense on 11, 12 and 13 February 1993. On 12 February, the team also met with three of the divers who were involved in the search for, and retrieval of, the flight recorders.
