WE HAVE ASKED UKREP JLG TO SEEK AN EARLY OPPORTUNITY TO PASS THE AMENDMENT AND THE SPECIFIC AUTHORISATION TO THE CHINESE, AND TO ASK FOR THEIR EARLY CONFIRMATION THAT THERE IS NO DIFFICULTY FOR THEM WITH OUR PROPOSAL.

2. ON PARA. 3 OF TUR, THIS PARTICULAR AMENDMENT TO THE ROUTE SCHEDULE WILL NOT BE REPEATED, AS THE HONG KONG/NETHERLANDS ASA IS THE ONLY ONE THAT DOES NOT CURRENTLY PROVIDE FOR BEYOND POINTS.

3. ALTHOUGH IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO PREDICT THE EXTENT, CERTAIN ASA ARTICLES NEED TO BE AMENDED FROM TIME TO TIME IN THE LIGHT OF EXPERIENCE OR TO TAKE ACCOUNT OF THE CHANGING FACE OF AIR TRANSPORT. TARIFFS, AVIATION SECURITY, USER CHARGES, AND SETTLEMENT OF DISPUTES ARTICLES ARE EXAMPLES. AS ALL OUR ASAS ARE RELATIVELY MODERN, WE DO NOT ENVISAGE MAKING MANY AMENDMENTS OVER THE NEXT FEW YEARS, AND AT THE MOMENT THERE ARE NONE IN THE PIPELINE. ADDITIONAL ARTICLES MAY, HOWEVER, BE REQUIRED IN FUTURE TO DEAL WITH AVIATION- RELATED ISSUES NOT CURRENTLY COVERED BY ASAS.

4. THE PRECEDENTAL VALUE OF AMENDING THE HONG KONG/NETHERLANDS ASA IS NOT THEREFORE QUANTIFIABLE AT THIS STAGE, BUT WE EXPECT IT NEVERTHELESS TO BE SIGNIFICANT.
