2.2.2
Monitoring by the Hong Kong side
When the Guangdong Nuclear Power Station is in an off-site emergency situation, the Hong Kong Department of Health and Agriculture and Fisheries Department will carry out emergency monitoring within the area of Hong Kong for Sr-90, I-131, Cs-134 and Cs-137 in foodstuffs (including dairy products) imported to Hong Kong from China.
2.2.3
Transmission of monitoring results
When the Guangdong Nuclear Power Station is in an off-site emergency situation, both sides will inform the other side of the results of the monitoring of foodstuffs (including dairy products), using the Guangdong-Hong Kong emergency information channel, with effect from 24 hours after the commencement of monitoring by both sides regardless of the accident time phase. The monitoring results of I-131, Cs-134, Cs-137 will be exchanged between both sides first and other results to follow when they are available. Both sides have also agreed to inform each other of the sampling methods for monitoring in further discussion.
2.2.4 The Hong Kong side will commence monitoring once an off-site emergency situation is declared. If the monitoring results are found to have exceeded the mutually agreed control standards, the Hong Kong side will inform immediately the Guangdong side, which will then commence monitoring and pass its monitoring results to the Hong Kong side as soon as possible.
