The general public is unlikely to be interested in these agreements, but the business community will welcome the conclusion of an IPPA between Hong Kong and a significant investment partner which will remain in force after 1997.

As the initialled agreement is still subject to consultation with the Chinese side in the JLG, no Legislative Council brief or press release will issue at this stage. Once the consultation is completed and the agreement is signed, suitable publicity will be given both locally and overseas, by way of a press release and media briefing.
