The Government of
Hong Kong, having
been duly
authorised to conclude this agreement by the sovereign
government which is responsible for its foreign affairs, and
the Government of the Republic of France,
referred to as the Contracting Parties;
hereinafter
Desiring to strengthen economic cooperation
between both Contracting
conditions for greater
Parties and to create favourable
investment
by investors of one
Contracting Party in the area of the other;
Recognising that the encouragement and reciprocal
protection of such investments will be conducive to the
stimulation of
of capital and
individual business initiative and transfers
will increase prosperity in the interest of
their economic development;
Have agreed as follows:
