Dear Ms Bouch,

Thank you for your letters dated 16 September and 20 September. The following are answers to the specific questions you raised in your letters.

stem Wharf Cable is planning for October 1993

Wharf Cable's cable system will initially include Multipoint Microwave Distribution System ("MMDS") components. In order to enable speedy introduction of a cable television service to viewers, Wharf Cable has been allowed to commence with a system which will make extensive use of MMDS components. The cabling work will start in two or three years' time.

some

Perhaps it will be useful to set out in details how Wharf Cable's cable system with MMDS components will work. Wharf Cable's signals will be transmitted from their studio to various microwave transmitting stations. There will ultimately be thirteen of these in Hong Kong. From these transmitting stations, the signals will be beamed through the air to microwave receivers mainly located on building rooftops. From the receiver on the rooftop of the building, the signals will be delivered to the cable system covering the building and adjacent buildings. Wharf Cable's system may interconnect with existing Communal Aerial Building Distribution systems or Satellite Master Antenna Television systems. Wharf Cable's cable system may consist of new internal wiring specially installed by Wharf Cable.
