JLG XXVIII: ADMINISTRATIVE ARRANGEMENTS

1.We spoke briefly when you were here about the administrative arrangements for the December JLG. We have been sounding out a few people here and have the following comments:

Working Lunch

Last year this was held at lunchtime on the first day in a private room in the Old Admiralty Building. They did us well, at reasonable cost. In the past we had held it in Tony's club but unless you have any objections I would propose holding it in OAB again this year. The rooms are available on 6,7 and 8 December but we will need to make a firm booking soon. In the past UKRep have paid for this, but I have no objection to it coming out of our budget. It seems an unnecessary inconvenience for you to be having to decide on menus etc in the last few days before the JLG by fax.

Dinner hosted by Mr Goodlad

We have pencilled in the evenings of 8 and 9 December into Mr Goodlad's diary for this. We will have difficulty holding both these dates once parliament resumes. This as before would be held in the Locarno Suite.

Entertainment

You will need to contact your college in the first instance about lunch. But once that had been done we and OVIS could take over the administration. I suggest that, if we hire a bus to Cambridge arriving about 11 am, there could be an hour and a half's sight-seeing before lunch and after lunch you could visit the Needham Research Institute in Robinson College. Punting will presumably be out of the
