We spoke about temporary Registry cover. I should like to reiterate how grateful we are for the assistance of Gerry McCann (and on a short-term basis Alan Dacey) in Hong Kong Department while we are awaiting a substantive replacement for John Sheldon.

I thought I should draw your attention to a slot in our departmental diary when we are likely to be particularly in need of temporary reinforcement. The Sino-British Joint Liaison Group meeting is due to be held here from 7-9 December, with a concomitant increase in our administrative workload. I should be most grateful if, with this in mind, you could ensure that our registry cover does not drop below four clerks for the period Monday 29 November to Friday 9 December.
