on the application in Hong Kong of the NIGHT WORK OF YOUNG PERSONS (INDUSTRY) Conventión (REVISED), 1948 (NO. 90)

This convention was first applied to Hong Kong with modifications by a declaration registered by the ILO on 9th August 1978. An improved declaration with modification in respect of Article 3(1) only was registered by the ILO on 9th April 1981. This convention has not been ratified by the United Kingdom. The declaration in respect of Hong Kong was communicated to the ILC by the United Kingdom Government in connection with the ratification of the Lábour Standards (Non-Metropolitan Territories) Convention, 1947 (No. 83).

This is a full report by the Government of Hong Kong. It supersedes all previous reports on the application of this convention.

The provisions of this convention are applied by :

(a)

the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance, Chapter 59;.

(b) the Employment Ordinance, Chapter 57, and

subsidiary legislation made thereunder;

and subsidiary legislation made thereunder; and

administrative measures by the Labour Department-

and the Technical Education and Industrial Training Department

Article 1

Under section 2 of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance, the term "industrial undertaking" includes :

(a) any factory;

(b)

any mine or quarry;

(c) any industry in which articles are manufactured,

altered, cleansed, repaired, ornamented, finished, adapted for sale, broken up or demolished, or in which materials are transformed, including shipbuilding;
