cmployer must, before the commcncc.ment of every month, inform cach cmployce orally or in writing of his rest days in that month, or post a roster showing the appointed rest days for cach cmployce Curing the month, where rest days are not appointed on fixed days in cach month on a regular basis.
- Under regulation 9(1)(c) of the Women and Youny Persuns (Industry) Regulations, an employer must specify in a notice posted at a conspicuous place in the industrial undertaking the rest day of the week for women and young persons.
If such a day is not the same for every woman or young person so cmployed, the fact that the rest day is given to workers by a rotation system should be specified in the notice. Three specimen copies of the notice required to be posted under this regulation were attached to the `report on this convention for the period ending 30 Junc 1990. *-

In addition, an employer must, under regulation 16(2)(h), specify the wcckly rest Jay in
the register giving the particulars of any woman or young person employed. Three specimen copies of the prescribed form for the register 'to' bc maintained under this regulation were attached to the report on this convention for the period ending 30 Junc 1980.

Under regulation 16(3), upon request from a woman or young person employed by him, an employer is required to produce the register specifying
· their weekly rest day for their inspection.

The Commissioner for Labour is responsible for the enforcement of the Employment Ordinance and the Wonen and Young Persons (Industry) Regulations
made thereunder.
Labour
Enforcement of tnc Employment Ordinance rests with the Relations Division, the Woinen and Young Persons Division and the Prosecutions Division of thc Labour Department and the Labour Tribunal of the Judiciary. Major provisions of thc Employment Ordinance are well publicised through the mass mcuia. A concisc yuide to the ordinance is available to the public free of charge. The provisions of Part IV of the Employment Oruinance concerning the granting of rcst days to cmployees arc administerca by the Labour Department. Every complaint of alleged non-compliance with the provisions is investigatců by officers of the Women and Young Persons Division. Advice will viven to the employer to rectify the position. Failure to hccd the advice will be followed by prosecution.

Inspections to industrial establishments for the purpose of enforcing statutory provisions on the employment of women and young persons are carried out by labour inspectors of the Romen and Young Persons Division of the Labour Department. Legal proceedings against offenders are handled by th Frosecutions Division of the department.
