We are broadly content with the texts of the draft letters from China and the UK to the World Bank and for similar texts to be used for those to the IMF; though we feel they should, in addition to the Annual Meetings, include a reference to the Interim and Development Committee Meetings. A couple of minor amendments:
To the China Letter:
Line 2: replace "effective" with "with effect from".
Line 4: honour is misspelt Exclam.
To the UK Letter:
Line 4: Replace "State" with "Government"
Line 5: Add "Government of" before "United Kingdom".

We have discussed here the question of a representative from London at the Hong Kong meetings and agree that at this stage none is necessary.

We also agree that you should take the opportunity offered on Thursday to speak to the US Treasury to gauge the measure of US financial support.
