Fund for the People's Republic of China, and
Governor
of the World Bank for the People's Republic of China, to the Managing
Director of the Fund, extending an invitation to hold the 1997 Annual
Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the Fund and the World Bank Group
(the "Organizations*) in Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Government requests that the Government of the
United Kingdom convey to the Fund its assurances that it will do all in its
power to ensure the success of these Meetings. To this end, the Hong Kong
Government, acting through the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, vill ensure the good and timely provision of all services, facilities and financial
resources related to the preparation and conduct of the Meetings, as set
forth in the Memorandum on the Provision of Services and Facilities for the 1997 Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in Hong Kong.
