of the World Bank for the People's Republic of China, extending an
invitation to hold the 1997 Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of
the Fund and the World Bank Group (the "Organizations") in Hong Kong.
I am pleased to inform you that the Government of the United Kingdom,
in its capacity as the Government responsible for the administration of
Hong Kong through June 30, 1997, and after consultation with the Government
of Hong Kong, extends its support to this invitation. I am also authorized
to convey to the Fund the assurances of the Government of Hong Kong that, as
stated in the attached letter, it will do all in its power to ensure the
success of these Meetings. On behalf of the Government of the United
Kingdom, I can assure you that my authorities will fully cooperate in the
preparation of the Meetings, assist the Hong Kong Government in the issuance
of visas, and facilitate the good and timely delivery of services and
facilities, to be set forth in the Memorandum on the Provision of Services
