UN CONVENTION ON THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD: EXTENSION TO THE
DEPENDENT TERRITORIES AND CROWN DEPENDENCIES
Problem
1.
Whether to extend the UK instrument of ratification of
the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child now to those
Dependent Territories and Crown Dependencies that are ready,
with a further extension, at a later date, to the remainder.
Recommendation
2.
I recommend that we opt for a three stage ratification.
The departmental Legal Adviser confirms there are no legal
objections.
