UN WORLD CONFERENCE on women, BEIJING 1995
I am writing to confirm our telephone conversation this morning regarding queries that you had about Hong Kong's involvement in the last UN World Conference on Women and arrangements for the Beijing Conference.
We do not hold any relevant papers relating to Hong Kong and the Nairobi Conference in 1985 and so I suggest you contact the Human Rights Policy Unit who should be able to track down the information you need.
At this stage, arrangements for the Beijing Conference have not been finalised and we plan to discuss with HRPU a number of issues where clarification is needed, including how Dependent Territories are to be involved. However, this is unlikely to be before the end of the month as we are still awaiting the outcome of Ministerial consideration of the proposed arrangements for the UK preparation for the conference.
