TAIWAN RELATIONS WITH HONG KONG
1.
I enclose a copy of a letter FED have received from the Taipei Representative Office (the Free China Centre as was) proposing a meeting between Mr William Li, the visiting director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Department of the Executive Yuan in Taiwan and someone from HKD. FED will be replying that we do not think a meeting between him and FCO officials would be useful.
2.
You will notice that they also suggest that Li might meet someone from the HKGO to discuss Hong Kong. You may wish to consider what advice to send the HKGO if the Taipei Representative Office do make such an approach.
