She entered the Law School of HKU in 1961 and qualified to practise in 1963. In 1975, she registered as an overseas solicitor in the UK. From 1978 onwards, she became the chairwoman of the HK Region of the International Women Solicitors Association and a public notary for international law. In 1986, she was appointed as a public notary by the judiciary. She got a Master's degree in Law from HKU in 1988. She is a delegate of the seventh Guangdong People's Congress.

He studied at Pui Kiu Primary and Secondary Schools in the 1960s, and entered the Chinese Department of CUHK in 1970. In 1979, he became a researcher at the Chinese Department of HKU. In 1971-74, he was a Chinese teacher in Sun Kiu Secondary School. In 1979, he was a part-time secretary at the HK Chinese Language Society. In 1985-90, he was employed as a deputy secretary of the BLCC. He has been chief editor of the HK Commercial Daily since 1991. He is a founding member of the DAB, and a member of the Fujian provincial CPPCC.
