PRELIMINARY FEASIBILITY STUDY REPORT ON PROPOSED LINGDING YANG BRIDGE

Annex II

On 18 January 1993, the Zhuhai Municipal Government held a meeting to discuss the preliminary feasibility study on the proposed Lingding Yang Bridge. At the meeting, it was decided that the starting point of the bridge should be changed from Sanxiang town, Zhongshan municipality to Jinding town, Zhuhai municipality. Consequently, this Report has to make some amendments in regard to the alignment options.

ALIGNMENT OPTIONS

Northern Line Option

The Northern Line Option starts

starts from Waisha village near Jinding town, then runs east across the Jinxing waterway to land on the northern coast of Qiao island. It then crosses the Denglong waterway and Lingding waterway and lands at the Inner Lingding island. From the northern coast of the island, the line crosses the sea to reach Black Point, then turns south along the coastline to terminate at Tuen Mun. The total length of the Northern Line is 52 km.

Southern Line Option

This option also starts at Waisha village and crosses the sea to land on the northern coast of Qiao island. It then takes a more southerly direction to reach the West Point and East Point of Inner Lingding island. From the East Point, the line crosses the sea to reach Lung Kwu Chau, Hong Kong and then lands at Tap Shek Kok to terminate at Tuen Mun. The total length of the Southern Line is 50.6 km.

An alternative alignment for the Southern Line Option proposes that the line should land at North Point, instead of West Point, of the Inner Lingding island and then runs along the eastern coast of the island to reach East Point. This option has a total length of 50.9 km.

Other Options

Besides the above options, there are still Options A, B and C. Option A starts

starts from Waisha village, crosses the Jinxing waterway to land on the central part of Qiao island. It then crosses the Denglong waterway and Lingding waterway to land at the West Point of Inner Lingding island. Leaving the island from East Point, the line follows that of the Southern Line
