When we met at Government House on 13 October, 1992,
I mentioned the suggestion for establishment of a Hong Kong- China Economic Co-operation Committee.
In last year's LegCo policy debate, I put forward such a proposal. It was however rejected by Government in . their subsequent reply.
The same topic was raised in Beijing during a visit in June this year. Officials in the Hong Kong-Macau Office were quite interested in the suggestion.
To help your consideration of the matter, I am sending you herewith an extract*
my speech which was delivered at last year's LegCo policy debate sitting (October 31, 1991).
I would be pleased to assist in moving the matter forward upon your support of the idea.
