Effective from 1 July 1992, the opening time of

the three border crossings was advanced by half an hour to

7:00 am, and the closing time at Man Kam To was extended by

two hours to 10:00 pm.

As from 1 December 1992,

Lok Ma Chau's closing time was also been extended by two

hours to 10:00 pm. A summary is provided in the table

below.

Traffic

flow has improved as a result of the

longer hours of operation, particularly in the early

morning.

Before the extension of opening hours, the

China-bound queue in the morning tailed back from the

Man Kam To Control Point for 6 km along Man Kam To Road,

Jockey Club Road, Po Shek Wu Road, and the NT Circular

Road, reaching as far as Kwu Tung. The queue length has

now been shortened to 2 km in the early morning, but
