Diplomatic Note from Saudi Arabia
Thank you for your letter of 21 September enclosing a diplomatic note from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs concerning the difficulties experienced by Mr W K Tam of the Saudi Airlines at Kai Tak Airport.

Kai Tak Airport (although he is not entitled to them as an 'off-line' carrier representative) when he was meeting and st. ng off members of the Saudi Royal Family and ́saudi diplomats passing through Hong Kong. At no time has Mr Tam been refused entry to the suite and, in fact, according to our findings, Mr Tam was escorted to and from the plane-side on sarh ernacion HOWAVAT Wo wonîñ naor to añvico Mr Tam that in future he will be required taga, through the, normal channel. applicable to all 'off-line' carrier representatives i.e. Mr Tam should make arrangements directly with the airlines concerned to meet his guests coming via the airport. Even if the passengers are entitled to use the VIP suite, Mr Tam would only be permitted to meet or see them off in the suite and not at the plans side.
occasion Mr Tam claimed he was the Honorary Concul of Saudi Arab' although he does not hold such a post.
I should be gruteful, therefore, if you would dephy- the following line in answer to the diplomatic note from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
"Our records indicate that Mr Tam has been accorded the full facilities of the VTP-cnira ar ́kai 'vār“ Airport, under our special arrangements, when he was meeting and seeing off members of the Saudi Royal Family and Saudi diplomats passing through Hong Kong. Such access is not normally granted to representatives of "off-line" carrièrs i.e. airlines that do not operate through Hong Kong.
